What languages do you speak/study?

I speak Swedish reasonably well, and while I've studied Russian and (briefly) Arabic, I cannot speak them.

Are you a beginner (can't carry a conversation) or intermediate (can stumble through a conversation) or advanced (can get though most conversations up to being entirely fluent)?

I was advanced, but certainly not fluent, when I lived in Göteborg as a grad student. I'm afraid it might have gotten a bit rusty since then. My reading skills are much better than my speaking abilities, however.

What sort of events are you hoping to attend?

It would be great to see some films, or visit cultural events. Most of all, though, I'd like to talk with people in small conversation groups or even individually over coffee.

Are you a language learner or expatriate?

I lived in Sweden for ten years and came to think of it as home, so I fall in between the cracks of this distinction. (smile)

Hej!
