Welcome to Melbourne Scenthounds. This group was started by two people who got obsessed with fine perfume. We regard perfume as an artform - not a mere toiletry, and we love to collect scents.

The group started out being called the "Serge Lutens Scenthounds" because of a particular obsession with the amazing line of Serge Lutens fragrances, but we later felt that the name was too specific and could deter people unfamiliar with Lutens yet interested in perfume. So the group is now simply called "Melbourne Scenthounds".

It is our dream to meet other people in Melbourne interested in collecting and experiencing high quality fragrances. Jenny has a bent for dark, incensy top-of-the range creations (such as Amouage) while I have a particular interest in collecting examples of perfume "milestones" from the last 150 years. I also have many books on the history of perfumery and a set of perfumery "notes". All these things we would love to share with others who have the same interest.

The basic idea of this Meetup group is for members to get together casually over coffee to talk about and sniff perfume. We would be happy to bring along any frags that others might like to try (I can provide a list of my fragrance collection on request), and members are similarly welcome to bring their frags for "show and tell". Depending on where we meet, we might even go for sniff-a-thons in department stores or perfumeries!

Please note: we are not perfumers, we do not work in the beauty industry or have any brand affiliation - we're just perfume fans.
