First and foremost, names can be deceiving "WE LOVE RESEARCH!" However, we are frustrated with the state of things in academic research. Whether it's chemistry, biology, physics, history, social science, gather to meet others who love the research they do, but feel that a person should be able to find a "real" job after 10+ years of education/training, should not have to be at the mercy of some professor, or have to deal with so many of the issues that grad students/post-docs face in academia these days.

What a chance to share your ideas as to how things can be changed for the better, then this is the group for you. Hopefully, we can organize events that help make research life in academia more pleasing, informative, and hopefully better prepare us for life afterwards. Of course, if you just want to meet, complain, drink, network, and have some fun, then that's good also.

    They rated it 4.50 4.503 (3 ratings)

A rather small meet & greet, but it was pleasant & enjoyable. The people who attended were nice and easy to talk to.

I got there late. I didn't know who was from the meetup, but the place seemed nice.
