Nerd-tastic Event Roundup for Early May

I know, I'm supposed to only use my powers in a benevolent fashion, but sometimes being bad feels so good. Therefore, I'm abusing my powers to pimp some neat things coming up outside our meetup.

March 5-6
Art Sanctuary and The Alley Theater at The Pointe
1250 E. Washington Street, Suite 120

The Art Sanctuary/Actor's Theater presents a night aimed right at the most geektastic audience in Louisville. This weekend, tickets are 2 for 1. To sweeten the deal even more, you can get entire bottles of wine for $15. For less than $30, you can liquor a special someone up on a unique nerd date.

March 7

Are you jealous of the people in Improv Everywhere? Join a bona fide Flash Mob here in Louisville this Sunday. We'll be making our own protest signs protesting protests. Oh, yes, it's very meta. There'll also be some social lubrication of the vodka variety before we march.

March 5-7
Darkwoods Con

Dark Woods Con is a first-year horror/paranormal convention in the beautiful city of Pikeville, Kentucky. Come check it out on the weekend of March 5-7, 2010 at the Landmark Inn.

March 12

The Derby City Movie Maniacs are taking over Chatter's Grill in Stonybrook Cinemas for an evening of costumed shenanigans including women in corsets and top hats, prizes for best costume, contests for everything from best tabletop croquet to late bunnies pleading with the Red Queen to keep their heads. Movie tickets are included in the price. $15 in advance or $20 at the door

Finally, if you're on Facebook and you haven't signed up yet, I urge you all to join the Derby City Steampunk League run by our very own Chris Boll. He's an amazing costumer working on setting up Maker's Nights and other awesome shindigs here in town. If you like Steampunk, or just excuses to look pretty, show him some love.
