Please read to the end to go on a ride or be a member!
Purpose; The purpose of this group is for the love of riding scooters, meeting wonderful like minded people and the beauty of the nature we ride in. All bikes welcome! Please always watch the postings before leaving in case the ride is canceled for bad weather, etc.
Rides; We usually meet a little early, have a coffee or tea and then ride. We try to stay off highways and am big on beautiful scenery. We generally stop every hour for a bit and stop for lunch. For specific information, read about the particular ride or email me.
Ideas for rides; We encourage group members to come up with rides and/or lead rides. Please set up your own group ride or email it to me & I will post it. Anyone can post their own rides as long as they are done safely.
When I do/do not ride; Between October & Mid January & May are my busy seasons. It is hard for me to do rides. Please send me rides you want to lead & I will post them all or give you permission to post them. I do not ride in the rain, snow or if it is under 41 degrees. I do ride year round. Some of the riders have heated suits, myself included.
Group philosophy; The Central Jersey Scooter Group is a easy going group; We have no regular meetings. There are no regular ride days (a ride gets posted when someone decides to lead it), there are no rules except to ride safe & there is no club gear. We generally keep the rides between 2 and 8 people. If you are looking for a ride and we don't have one posted please check out the other wonderful groups that ride in our area. They are in the 'more', 'Files' section of this web site. Some are more organized, some have larger rides, etc. I stop every hour to rest and talk. I stop for lunch and we usually share the bill unless asked to do otherwise.
Ride Rules; Ride in a stagger form. Stay far enough from the person in front of you in case they stop short. I do not use hand signals when I lead (others certainly can) as I do not feel comfortable taking my hand from the handlebar. If someone gets caught at a light, or needs to stop, pull over and the person in front should pull over. I will not always see this until I see the person or two behind me pulling over. Never feel embarrassed to pull over. We all have a time that this is needed. The ride has to be fun or there is no reason to ride, so pull over and take care of your concern.
