The Tarmachan Ridge (Meall nan Tarmachan)

Meall nan Tarmachan is one of the easier Munros to reach in good weather thanks to a high level start point, but it is really just the start of a rocky ridge traverse which is one of the most interesting in the Southern Highlands. There is a short scramble involved in the descent of the pointed top of Meall Garbh.

Terrain: Good path leads quickly to the Munro, steep ascent near the top. The path continues along the ridge which is rocky and has a short scramble on the descent from Meall Garbh. Descent is pathless between the bealach and the quarry track.You should have considerable previous hillwalking experience, and know you are fit and surefooted enough to complete the whole walk without a problem.
We will walk AS A GROUP at a MODERATE pace. If you don't want to do this then this walk is not for you. Please ensure you come equipped properly to cope with the unpredictable Scottish mountain weather - warm, waterproof clothing, extra layers, gloves, hat, headtorch and due to winter conditions you need to bring and be able to use an ice axe and crampons! MICROSPIKES ARE NOT PERMITTED.

This walk has been graded as a hard walk. You are responsible for deciding if this walk is suitable for you, coming adequately prepared and looking after yourself on the walk. If we think the walk is is not suitable for you or you do not seem to have the right equipment, we reserve the right to refuse to let you join, for your's and the group's safety and comfort.
