Normally meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month.

They meet at the Art Institute of California -- located at 2850 Gateway Oaks Drive, Sacramento, CA

Every 4th Tuesday is when they critique scripts (lab.). Normally 8-10 people in attendance at that one. Second Tuesday is normally a packed room (with actors) for script reads or actor workshops.

The next screenwriters lab is on the 24th at 6:30.

I would ignore the attendance shown on the "Not Quite Write" page -most people (are through CFAA) and don't attend through the Meet-up site.

We have not had a meetup in nearly three months.

 

I’ve attended screenwriting classes where we meet once a week and have readings of each other’s writings (10-15 pages) so we can ‘hear’ what our story and dialogue sounds like from other people’s voices.  I think it was effective because not only do you get creative feedback that is instantaneous, but it encourages you to write frequently so you can hear a reading on your next 15 pages.

 

My point is, I think frequency helps.  When I attended a couple of the group’s meetups, it seemed we were in search of topics to discuss and subject matter.  If this group requires this kind of structure, I’d be happy to provide it.

 

If this is not this kind of meetup group, let me know.  I’m in search of a group who has writers that write frequently and need that encouragement and incentive.  I know I need it.

 

Does anyone else have an opinion on this?
