This month we will take a look at product backlogs.

We will cover the following ground:

  • Introduction (5 mins): Reg/Neil

  • Backlog overview (10 mins): Reg/Neil

  • Q & A/general discussion around the following topics (30 mins):

  • What is a backlog?

  • What goes into a backlog?

  • Ordering vs Prioritising

  • Sizing backlogs

  • Readying backlogs for sprints

  • Augmenting backlogs with techniques such as story maps, use cases and other things

  • Queuing theory and how it underpins the backlog idea

  • Dealing with multiple backlogs (scaled Scrum)

  • Challenges we face when managing backlogs (e.g. absent customer, not paying attention to capacity, poorly formed backlog items, lack of acceptance criteria, not focusing on value and so on)

  • Anything else backlog related

  • Practical Group Activity: Creating and Managing a Product Backlog (40 mins)

  • Wrap up (5 mins)

This session will run for a total of 1.5 hours from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
