Scrunch - Scrum Practitioner's Lunch

Boost will be hosting a lightly facilitated forum which will give you a chance to discuss any successes, challenges and opportunities you're facing working with Scrum teams.

This lunch is aimed at Scrum coaches and Scrum masters, but all Scrum practitioners are welcome. Bring your own lunch and Boost will supply soft-drinks (we have cola & creaming soda!), tea and coffee.

How it works

Each session will have a facilitator who will be responsible for timekeeping to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The first 20 minutes will be general chit chat, during this time anyone can propose a topic by writing it on a sticky and putting it on the wall.

Everyone will then dot vote to prioritise the topics.

Discussion of the first topic will be time-boxed to 8 minutes with subsequent topics time-boxed to 4 minutes. At the end of each time box the facilitator will ask everyone to determine whether they would like to move to the next topic or continue discussing the current topic for another 4 minutes.

Why are we running the forum

Boost has been running these forums internally for the last couple of months. We have found it incredibly valuable to have a space to openly discuss everything scrum related, so we thought it would be a good idea to open it up to all Scrum practitioners in Wellington.

Thanks to everyone who attended for your participation. I really enjoyed facilitating such a wide ranging set of topics and the well rounded discussion around them.

Felt like an hour well-spent. Open and friendly group, and well-facilitated - good pace/depth of discussion. Received some useful advice around how to work better with a shy team member by 'pre-preparing' him for team activities that he might find confronting - look forward to trying this out. Also absorbed lots of interesting ambient info - food for thought and springboards for later discussions. Great to meet other Scrum Masters directly. Wish this was every fortnight instead of monthly!

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
