New Meetup: Night Dives With Ben

From: Ben
Sent on: Sunday, August 9, 2009 2:17 PM
Announcing a new Meetup for The Greater Bay Area Scuba Lovers Meetup!

What: Night Dives With Ben

When: August 22,[masked]:30 PM

Lover's Point
630 Ocean View Blvd
Pacific Grove, CA 93950

It's time to plan another night diving event! I'm thinking two dives, and proposing that the first one happen at Lover's Point in Monterey, followed by a second at the Metridium fields at Breakwater. However, I'm open to suggestions. If a majority would prefer a different arrangement, I'm happy to be flexible. Feel free to throw out suggestions on the message board.

It would be good to meet and brief the first dive at 5:30, and start the first dive at 6:00 pm. We would plan to be out of the water around 7:00 pm, and back in for the second dive at 8:00 pm. Sunset is at around 8:00, so it should be dark shortly after we enter for the second dive.

As always, I'm flexible about any of these plans. If you'd like to propose something different, I'm all ears. I just want to get us out diving and having fun!

If you've been meaning to head out with this group for a while but haven't gotten around to it, this is a perfect opportunity. At night, the rocks explode with color as shrimp, crab, and other exciting creatures come out to play among the anemones. Octopus hunt along the sandy seafloor. It's an exciting time to be underwater. We did our last night dive at Metridium fields, and had a wonderful experience- just as the metridium were coming into view, a triplet of beautiful sea nettles crossed our path.

ADDED BONUS: I'll provide plenty of hot cocoa for chilly bodies in between dives. And I'm bringing marshmallows :)

A few things to remember: bring a tanklight so we know where you are. Bring a flashlight so you know where you are. Bring an extra light in case the first one burns out, and you forget where you are.

Feel free to RSVP maybe, but know that for cocoa planning purposes, if your response still shows maybe on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 6 pm, I'll be counting you as a "no."

I look forward to seeing you there!
