How long have you been knitting? New enthusiast or old hand? What are your favorite knitting techniques these days?

I have been knitting for about 7 years but I still have much to learn.

What kind of objects do you like to knit? Do you keep 'em, sell 'em or give 'em away?

Lately I have been knitting/crocheting for swaps. Those are mostly squares, dishclothes, and potholders. I also knit for friends and family, especially for the kids. I have made a few sweaters, a few socks (many with no second pair), lots of hats, a couple of scarves, and a few shawls among other things.

How did you start knitting? Who taught you and how did you catch the bug?

I started knitting because I saw so many projects that I wanted to make that just wouldn't look right if I crocheted them. I learned to crochet from my mom when I was about 7. I learned to knit from a book. I made a ribbed scarf and have not stopped knitting since. Although, I tend to not knit scarves much anymore.

What is one topic you want to learn more about in knitting or fiber arts, and why?

I would love to learn to do weaving! I cannot however afford a loom right now. I also would like to learn more about spinning. I have spun a little but I would like to be able to have my yarn come out closer to how I envision it when I am still looking at the roving. I also wanna learn how to customize patterns for a better fit.

I do both knit and crochet as well as a few other crafts. I have never joined up with a group to knit in public but it sounds like fun. I would love to see what everyone is working on.
