How long have you been knitting? New enthusiast or old hand? What are your favorite knitting techniques these days?

Simple knitting has been a friend of mine since pre-adolescence. It's become my friend in earnest about 10 years ago when my son's girlfriend asked me to teach her how to knit. She was left-handed, and this brought up many questions and challenges that motivated me to learn more myself. It has now become my passion.

What kind of objects do you like to knit? Do you keep 'em, sell 'em or give 'em away?

I've learned to be a selfish knitter for the most part -- I don't believe that anyone who doesn't knit can truly appreciate a hand-knit object; and, obviously, if they already know how to knit they don't need it from me.

How did you start knitting? Who taught you and how did you catch the bug?

When I was about 5-years-old, a babysitter, Mrs. Castillo, taught me. However, I only knitted when at her home. Then in my preteen days, I learned again to knit and crochet the classic triangle shawl so popular in the 70's bohemian fashion times.

What is one topic you want to learn more about in knitting or fiber arts, and why?

Modifying guage and size -- two reasons: Often, very often, I prefer to use a different yarn and/guage than called for.

Been knitting approximately 10 years. Also belong to Mission Coffee (now meets at Orchard Coffee) Meetup. Looking to widen my social circle especially during my summer break.
