Conclude our study of Ruth
Details
The Moabitess woman, Ruth, has sought and found a "redeemer" in Boaz who is a rich, generous kinsman. The word kinsman (goelin Hebrew) is the same word as is translated by our word "redeemer." It is a word applied to God in other books of the Bible. The meaning in this text is important for students to grasp. Originally the goel was the next-of-kin male of any Israelite family. He had both the right and the duty to take up the case of an unfortunate relative. This thought of rescue, release and deliverance is certainly connected to the Christian's belief in Christ as the world's redeemer. Our study of this great, but short, book of Ruth comes to a conclusion tonight. Ruth and Boaz marry and become ancestors of the ultimate Redeemer of the world, the Christ. Our study will begin at Ruth 4:4 and will conclude at the end of the book. This is study is open to all. Come, bring your Bible and join in this study. If time permits we will review the entire book. The class will be about forty five minutes in length and will be followed by a short inspirational devotional. Whether you have participated in this study from the beginning or just come tonight for the conclusion of the study, you will enjoy and profit from this open discussion and study of Ruth.
