This is not your grandmother's suport group. Seattle Social Diabetics is a group of fun, authentic, genuine people whose lives have been touched by diabetes. While we haven't been meeting regularly, it's our goal to have a monthly get-together organized very soon. Whether you're type I, type II, borderline, or just someone who is supporting another with diabetes, we would love to meet you.
It doesn't matter what your A1C looks like, or where your self-care level is, come out and join us.

Until monthly meetings are regularly scheduled, I would be happy to meet one on one (or by phone) with anyone who just needs a little support. Lets swap low carb recipes, ideas for making our care more affordable, doctor reviews, and a few laughs too!

Want to attend?

If at least one other person wants to get together and gab, I'm free on the East Side this Friday. If anyone wants to catch a movie afterwards, I am game for that too. If there aren't any RSVP's by Wed night, I will cancel this meetup. Tullys is on the 1st floor of Lincoln square.

What members are saying

“I have had diabetes for 35 years and don't know others here in the Seattle area with the same condition. Would love to chat with others who are in the same boat!”

“Hi Jim, I'm also in the older age group - 65 to be exact. I was diagnosed as type 2 and control was prescribed as diet only. 3 years later I was on insulin so my original diagnoses was at the beginning of the disease. Anyway, I have a pump now and have had it for about 15 years. It's such an improvement over injections of insulin! I'm guessing you were diagnosed with type 2 but anything is possible! The lifestyles between 1 & 2 are very similar regarding diet and excercise though. Judy”

“Hi Chris, I too, developed diabetes at age 30. I started out on diet, diet and pills and finally, three years later, went on insulin. I guess my diagnoses happened when my islets of langerhangs were in the process of being attacked by my immune system so I was very lucky. Anyway, I started on the minimed pump in 1995 and love it! I hope you are enjoying yours as well! Judy”
