Get Back to Basics in March

Second Thursday of the month, so it's time for a JS meetup!

6:00 - 6:30pm: Pizza, beer & catching up

6:30 - 7:00pm: Building apps using Meteor (Yuriy Dybskiy)

7:00 - 7:30pm: Learning JS with LED lights & Arduinos (Ryan Eastridge)

The remainder of the time will be spent on lightening talks. If you've got something you'd like to share, like a cool OSS project you're working on or a problem you're running into, you've got 5 minutes to grab the mic.

The fine folks at Redfin will be hosting us this month and providing the food. Redfin is a company of real estate agents and software engineers working together to reinvent real estate. And, of course, they're hiring.

PARKING INFO

There are several parking lots around the Redfin office.  There’s a lot just north of the corner of Western Ave and Lenora that’s across the street from Twilight.  There’s another lot located on 1st Ave between Lenora and Blanchard as well.  This lot is located between the Army Surplus store and Cellars Restaurant (across the street from Cherry Street Coffee House).

Can someone post a link to the code demo-ed in the first presentation?

A little bit late of a follow-up, but the website for my lightning talk on Backbone.js testing is: http://backbone-testing.com/

It has links to the full source for a demo Backbone.js application, a full test suite for the application, and other example test suites and specs for various chapters of my in-progress book on the topic. Any feedback regarding the app or tests as a learning tool are most appreciated!

Very well run meet-up. The lightening talks, speakers and networking all fit together nicely to make for a very beneficial evening. Thanks, Jim

For everyone asking about the LED board code:

Great presentations. I especially liked the LED board; looks like a great way to get young people engaged in development.

Logos Bible Software is hiring. We're in Bellingham (no traffic!) and working on some really fun projects. Check out our video on *writing code that matters*.

Is there anyone interested in writing UI functional test in JavaScript? I have a github repository that shows how to do it with grunt, mocha, require.js and webdriver. If you have a better approach, let me know. https://github.com/yguan/mocha_webdriver_tests

Yong - take a look at https://github.com/met... You can driver browser-based mocha tests from phantom on the command line using any Mocha reporter. Super speedy and really quite easy to use (given most of the alternatives in this space).
