This is a group where writers of longer pieces can get feedback, make friends and find connections. Maybe you'll find a few compatible writers and start your own group, or maybe you'll find someone who's willing to trade your novel for theirs...

Everybody's welcome, even if you didn't write anything this month. We typically meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at the Chocolati Cafe, Greenwood Ave N, Seattle. We limit attendance to 10 or 12, though, to ensure everyone can give and receive quality, thoughtful feedback.

People generally post about 10-20 (double-spaced/12 pt.) pages per meeting. The group is for quality of feedback, rather than quantity of feedback. You can arrange to swap larger pieces on the side, but file-size and posting deadlines are 5,000 words if filed by 3 a.m. Saturday, and 2,500 words if filed by midnight Saturday. Submissions after midnight Saturday will need to be reposted at a later time.

Here's how we're running things:

Members who are attending the next meetup submit their pieces to the files section in advance. The other attendees read the selections in advance. At the meetup we all have a chance to exchange feedback. If there are a fair number of attendees, we may break out into smaller groups so that everyone can give and receive quality feedback.

Feedback is in the form of a discussion and is given verbally. It's common, though, for writers to "mark up" drafts or write out written comments and give them to the author.
