The Halloween Special
Details
The shadow of Halloween is almost upon us. To celebrate in true Secret Adventures style, we’ve planned a a spooky paddle through the Limehouse canals.
We’ll finish up at a secret waterside bar in Hackney Wick for a Halloween party to remember. We are also chucking in some seasonal delicacies for us to enjoy when we get off the water.
When/where
Meet at the canoe shed under the railway arches at Limehouse Basin for 7pm. Nearest tube: Limehouse. Best postcode: E14 7JZ. Come out of the Branch road exit, turn left and immediately left and you'll be in Limehouse Basin.
The Route
At 6km, the route cuts its way along London’s oldest stretch of canal, an eerie backdrop to our all hallows adventure. Lit up by jack-o-lanterns, we’ll paddle from Limehouse, through Poplar and past Three Mills at Bow before winding up at Fish Island in Hackney Wick. Here we’ll be met by our canoe guides who’ll collect our boats and reunite us with our belongings.
What's included?
Boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and waterproof storage barrels for any valuables. We’ll also receive a coach briefing at the start, covering the basics of boat control and a few safety points. When we arrive in Hackney Wick, there will be some seasonal delicacies awaiting us before we head over the Lock to our waterside bar for a Halloween party. They also serve food here for those that worked up an appetite.
What to wear
Some form of Halloween fancy dress, however small or extravagant (treat for best, trick for worst). Bear in mind you’ll have to wear a buoyancy aid, so try to take that into account if you are going all out. You may also wish to incorporate waterproofs into your costume as the odd splash is pretty much inevitable. If you don’t have any waterproofs, we do have some spare jackets and trousers that you can use.
