Selenium + Javascript: The Rockstar Combination of Testing

  • July 21, 2011 · 7:00 PM

Hey everyone! We've decided to push back the Selenium-in-the-cloud event until August and instead focus on Javascript and Selenium for a July meetup with our friends at Yammer.

Nowadays, you can't test web applications without fully understanding Javascript, and knowing the cutting edge Javascript technologies will make your life as an automation tester much easier. We'll have:

Bob Remeika, Senior Engineer at Yammer, talk about how Yammer tests their Javascript using Selenium with a combination of Jellyfish and Sauce Labs.

Adam Christian, Javascript Architect at Sauce Labs, do a "What You Don't Know" talk on JS testing in the browser.

We're also working to line up another speaker, which we'll announce when details are finalized.

This meetup will be a little different from the last few in that we want to encourage everyone to mingle and chat about how they're testing at their respective companies. We'll be starting things at 7pm and catering in Mexican food and two pony kegs of light/dark beer (+ water and soda for the non-drinkers). Think of it more as a mixer that will also teach you a thing or two about testing. Oh, and we'll also be raffling off a couple newly designed Sauce Labs t-shirts!

Space is limited to 75 people so RSVP soon if you want to join in. Because we usually have a dropoff with the number of actual attendees, the RSVP limit on meetup is set to 100 people. See you soon!

Not enough Selenium. Too much beer. Interesting takeaway: Jellyfish ( Definitely check it out! Adam: I would have loved to have seen concrete (and complex) testing examples using Selenium.

Didn't start on time and the presenters seemed overly interested in beer. The content was good and times and lacking in others.

A little fragmented and whirlwind-like but very nice to know about latest js testing developments.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
