What are your thoughts about the Semantic Web? Is it the next Big Thing?

I'm not sure if the Semantic Web is the next big thing, but as someone once told me, even if it isn't, whatever the next Big Thing is will have to address these same challenges and take some similar approaches. So I'm optimistic.

Which new technologies would you like to learn? Have you worked with any "semantic" technologies such as XML, RDF, OWL, GRDDL, or SPARQL?

I've worked with RDF, OWL, SPARQL and SWRL. I've written applications that use these technologies in Java and also in .NET.

Which applications or web sites will make the Semantic Web a reality in the public eye?

It's hard to say what the killer app will be. I'd guess that an easy-to-use tool for mashups that arrives just as the amount of semantic information reaches a critical mass would make a big splash.

DC seems to have a large Sem Web community. As an active developer of Semantic Web systems, I thought it'd be good to see what other people were up to, and to see what good ideas are running around.
