Announcing a new Meetup for Under 40 BAAAG (Bay Area Asian Activities Group)!

What: Intro to Dragon Boating II (FREE!) and Hawaiian BBQ (not quite as free...)

When: April 11,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: This RSVP list is for 1st timers only! If you've gone before, please sign up through the official Dieselfish Evite. E-mail me your name and e-mail address, and I'll have you added. Please answer RSVP questions.

Interested in water sports? Ever wanted to try dragon boating? Didn't know anyone in dragon boating? Well now you do! And here's your chance!! I've been dragon boating for Dieselfish since 2006. It's a great way to meet people while getting a little exercise.

What is the cost? F-R-E-E (1st 5 times to see if you like it).

Prepare for a little workout and a little (lot?) of wetness :-).

We're preparing for Paragon Point race on May 9th! Newcomers are very much welcome! Here's their website:

Every dragon boat team is distinct and has its own characteristics. I would describe Dieselfish as friendly, social and outgoing. And they love to eat!

California Dragon Boat Association provides the life jackets (pfds) and paddles.

After paddling, we can stop for a little lunch:

L&L Hawaiian Barbeque
324 Walnut St
Redwood City, CA 94063

I like getting their chicken katsu. I know, I know...fried stuff is bad for me :-(

Some things to bring and keep in mind:

-if you haven't paddled with us before use the following link to print out, sign and bring this waiver to practice.
-Make sure that you are wearing comfortable "workout" clothes that can get wet. While we do not plan to swim in our practice waters, you will probably get splashed a little bit. Bring layers to contend with colder temps and wind.
-Bring a water bottle filled with either water or your favorite energy or gatorade style drink. WE REALLY LIKE REUSABLE bottles like nalgene... please don't create trash!
-Sunscreen or jacket depending on the weather
-Towel and extra pair of clothes in your car just in case.
-Shoes to run in and shoes to paddle in or shoes that can do both! Your paddling shoes should be able to take getting wet!
-If you have any allergies or medical conditions that require something like an epi-pen, please bring the pen and let the coaches and or captains know about it so they can help you if you need help!
-The CDBA provides paddles and pfds (life jackets) if you do not have one.

--Do not leave anything tempting to a burglar in plain view in your parked car. Put valuables in your trunk. Cars have been broken into at biac for gym bags etc.
