I'm a visual artist. I lean towards portraiture, using garbage that is washed up onto the beach, mostly plastics, but I incorporate metals, wood and curios objects that I find on my beach combing sprees. I wash and sort the detritus by color and size. When I start a peice I fine tune the color sorting to creat a pallet. I attach the plastics to sheet metal canvases with silicone for windows and doors.
My goal is to show my work to a wider audience and to provide an oppurtunity for discussion about the uneccessary use of single use plastics and the negative impact that it's causing in the oceans. I would also like to make a living as an artist.
Hello, My name is Tess Felix. I'm an artist living and working in the Stinson Beach, California. I create painting like portraits out of collected beach plastic and detritus.
