August Multi Meetup Wine Mingle & Taste-off/FULL

Each month we offer 16 hard-to-find, boutique wines from different viticultural areas in California which are under consideration by the members for our wine.coop group buying Cooperative.  Member donation: $15 (which includes tasting)

Given the small space, I suggest you either pay in advance or contact me about paying at the door. It is not enough to RSVP since we are now full with members who have paid in advance. Refunds given up to a day before the event.

Last month's group selected a terrific Red Blend, Just Joshin,  as their top choice which is available for purchase at a member and friends discount.  Already a steal at $20, Brainiacs can purchase a three pack at $15 a bottle. Several members have already purchased a case. Go to the Purchase Wine page of wine.coop site to learn more.

Attendees can sample and rate one flight of eight wines or more in a blind tasting format.

Our wine mingles seek to offer occasions for people to socialize over new and different wine styles and flavors (this month, for example, we'll taste a small production Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast, Pinot Noir from Santa Lucia Highlands, plus wines from Bay Area 'urban wineries and San Benito County). Why nurse a glass of a single varietal or be limited to a flight of three wines at a high-markup wine bar when for the same amount of  money you can enjoy and learn about a range of wines while chatting with old and new friends.

The 'citizen judge' format is based on the premise that those who buy wines for dinner or a special occasion should evaluate current releases not the "gatekeepers" who "curate" wine selections.  We also eschew the 100 pt. system as unnaturally precise in favor of a 5 star with half stars approach  (see our blog which lays out our taste off methodology)

And we always arrange to secure venues close to BART and affordable parking.  Pam Lintner has again agreed to host our tasting panel in her office at the bottom of California St.

The wines will be paired with some tasty nibbles.  Plus we will be raffling off some special wines

Ballots will be available to pick your favorite releases of the evening. Our unique approach is based on the premise that a limited number of wines have an appeal to a broad range of different palates which rarely please the refined tastes of the wine pros.  We want to offer attendees the opportunity to decide on their choices and represent the tastes of other consumers.

We appreciate payment in advance to help with planning and the purchase of nibbles. It  also prevents you from being turned away.

You needn't be a member of PayPal to prepay online; they will process your credit or debit card like any other eCommerce company.

Our August event is now full; but we have another gathering less than two weeks later of award winners from the California State Fair.

Went to the link to pay... Says there's something wrong with the merchant's account. Who do I contact to arrange paying at the door?

    Thanks!

So the meetup event page says there are spaces. The title has the word FULL. So we should ignore the meetup rsvp count, confirmations, etc. and assume it is full. Understood.

TO former member formerly Christine. Of course it didn't say full when people RSVP'd. That was my point. RSVPs don't save places, payment saves places. Between the time of signup (=RSVP) the event filled up. Jeff: yes that is confusing. Didn't have access to my computer to remove the spaces available number.

I somehow inherited the genes that don't digest alcohol, although I really, really love wine! I am hoping this is something you can train your body with, or at least I learn more about wines! Lok forward to attending and meeting you all.
