You wanted a meetup in the South Bay, and you got it!

Join The Ed-Tech Meetup in San Jose for a panel discussion with superintendents and technology directors to share their perspective on identifying and integrating technology into schools and shed some light on the complicated procurement process.

Hear directly from school reps how technology can improve teaching and learning and what school leaders would like to see from the ed-tech community. Plus, bank on engaging in amazing discussions, forging new connections with the best and the brightest, and learning from people all over the ed-tech spectrum!

Here's the phenomenal lineup of school representatives that will be joining us at SVEF:

  • Chin Song, Director of Technology at Milpitas Unified School District
  • Bruce Neff, Technology Curriculum Specialist at Oak Grove School District
  • Mariana Garcia, Science Teacher at the AdVENTURE STEM Program at Herman Intermediate School in Oak Grove School District
  • Randy Phelps, Director of Information Technology Services at East Side Union High School Distric

A special thanks to TeacherSquareSilicon Valley Education Foundation, and our wonderful sponsors - thanks for helping to grow and encourage the ed-tech community in the Bay Area!

*Note: Unlike the larger SF events, this meetup will be smaller and more intimate. The space can only accommodate those who are on the RSVP list (not including the wait list). Double check your status and make sure that you're on the "Yes" list as we will not allow anyone to attend who is not within the first 84 RSVPs. Please be considerate and change your RSVP if you can no longer attend so that someone can take your spot. Thanks!

Can you post a summary of takeaways here for us who were on the waitlist? I am personally interested in the specific road blocks to getting innovation and startup ideas into classrooms, and what we can do to overcome these.

    Hi Meridith,

We spoke briefly at the last meet-up. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to record and post the meeting for those of us unable to attend. Thank you.

Hi Rick - I'll forward your request to the good folks at TeacherSquare and Silicon Valley Education Foundation who are running the show in San Jose tonight!

Hey Meredith! Moved out to the Bay Area literally 3 weeks ago, TFA (Bmore '07) Mutual friends around the circle told me about the meet-up. How do we know if we're off the wait-list?

Keep your eye on the list! A lot of folks have changed their RSVPs recently :D

If there are 50 people on the wait list, isn't it well worth changing the venue so more people CAN attend?

      I'm there with you. :)

We're so grateful to SFEV for sharing their space with us in San Jose this time around, and we're excited to start engaging in the South Bay generally. This is somewhat of the *beta SJ appearance as we've been in SF for 2 years strong, hosting events with 200+. Thanks for the feedback! - We'll keep iterating to make sure that the community needs are met. Feel free to send along venue ideas (and rates!) should you come across something more accommodating for future events.

Can it be video taped and viewed at another time, a "flip the meetup" presentation?

do you have to buy tickets? if yes, where?

    October 18, 2012

    • EdSurge

No need to purchase tickets, as the event is free! You will need to be confirmed on the RSVP list, however, since space is limited. Apologies to anyone that misses out on this one - we'll be sure to write a great overview!
