Hello Bay Area Game Developers,

We had some messages that were late or left out of the last group email on accident. Since we are approaching GDC I thought I would compile the missed emails and get them out there to the group.

In the future I would like to make this a more regular thing, possibly an email with news from our members the week before the meetup. I think the best way to collect this news would be to use a thread on the group message board. Everyone that wants to share news can make a post in the thread and then I can add it to an email and send it out.

Thanks,

Casey

Subject: [Announce] Have your social game presented at GDC

Puzzlebox is seeking developers who would like to have their social game presented at GDC as a case study for our recently-released application, Puzzlebox Jigsaw.

Our software aids collection of biometric data during gameplay for the evaluation of user experience during QA and game testing cycles. Specifically we leverage low-cost, consumer-grade EEG headsets to measure levels of a player's concentration and focus while they play your game within a WebKit-based browser. A JavaScript API is available which allows complete control of logging data from within your game.

For example, if one wanted to gauge the effectiveness of a particular puzzle, action sequence, or game mechanic, when the player reaches a certain location a JavaScript call can be passed back through the browser to Jigsaw, instructing it to start logging brainwave measurements. When the puzzle has been solved, the "boss" beaten, or the corn is finished being harvested, a second JavaScript call can be made to name and save the log file.

While this software normally costs $99 per license we will offer a free copy to anyone who acts as a case study. We will present your game at our booth space at GDC throughout the three-day floor exhibition. If a representative from your company is already going to be present at GDC we would be happy to coordinate a time for them to make their own presentation from our space, for example to another company or executive. We can also host and distribute any sell sheets provided about the games which we demonstrate.

Please note that Internet connectivity will be extremely limited at the event, so it may be preferable to host a local copy of your game. We can provide a secured location on site to store a limited amount of equipment, and in some cases may even be able to loan a small PC system to be configured as a temporary server. Puzzlebox will also offer support during integration with your game.

Anyone interested please contact Steve Castellotti <sc@puzzlebox.info>. Due to the limited time remaining before the event we will need case studies complete and available by the close of business on Monday, March 5th.

Cheers

Steve Castellotti

March 2- 4 - Trainer Neal Goldstein, author iPhone Boot Camp for Dummies Series

"The San Francisco trainer Neal Goldstein definitely made this course unique, practical and worth the expense by heading off the "trouble spots" of various areas of iPhone programming, rather than just teaching a vanilla curriculum that you could download from iTunes. Every hour of the course was packed with useful information and exercises; not one soul out of the 15 or so developers who attended the course left early on any given day. I am very glad I made the investment. "- Craig J

The iPhone Boot Camps are arguably the most affordable and experienced iPhone application development workshops. Our rates are often half the price of other workshops and our trainers the most experienced in the field, with apps in the top ten in the iPhone store and/or authors of popular books on iPhone development.

The iPhone/iPad Boot Camp so far has taught over a thousand developers since November 2008
Below are some unedited comments on the San Francisco iPhone Boot Camp trainer Neal Goldstein, author of the iPhone Boot Camp for Dummies" books. Here's what a student has to say about Mr. Goldstein's iPhone Boot Camp:

Money Back Guarantee
We are the only iPhone workshop that offers a money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the workshop after the first day we offer a full refund, no questions asked. Keep in mind that any developers considering the workshop should have a basic knowledge of object oriented programming or the workshop will be extremely challenging.

hi I'm currently creating an Iphone game all by myself using the unreal engine,
called nuclear hipster.
You're a hipster riding a robot dinosaur
fighting bear sharks and anarchist aliens. They captured your indie
rock band and threaten to nuke the planet. Save your band... you save
the world...
I'm almost finished, here's a first screenshot
