For February 5th we've got Jamund Ferguson talking about maintaining coding standards across large teams and Evan Tahler about background processors and Node.js. Please RSVP if you're planning on joining us!

About Jamund Ferguson

Jamund Ferguson is a FullStack UI Engineer at PayPal. He helps his team develop best practices for both node.js and client-side frameworks and loves talking about JavaScript.

Abstract - Mastering ESLint

Maintaining coding standards across large teams is a huge effort with big rewards. Existing tools like JShint and JSLint have primarily focused on code style and preventing major mistakes. Modern tools such as ESLint improve the landscape significantly by allowing teams to customize the ruleset and what is enforced for each team. I'll demonstrate how this works and how to write your own custom rules. By the end of this talk you should have some awesome new tools for preventing bugs!

About Evan Tahler

Evan Tahler is the Director or Technology for TaskRabbit. Evan is also the creator & maintainer of the www.actionherojs.com (http://www.actionherojs.com/) node.js framework. Evan was previously a Lead Ruby engineer at Modcloth, a BluRay software architect for Disney, and once founded a "dumb phone" game company.

Abstract - Background Jobs + Node.js: Async Processing for your Async Language

No matter what you web application does, it's likely that you can get value from having a background processing framework. With Node.js, there are a number of unique things we can do to handle jobs outside of the request cycle or get high parallelism from our singe event-loop thread. This talk will look at a number of approaches and philosophies to do just that!
