Ruby Software Design Group Discussion

Important Note: This event is co-hosted with Software Design in Ruby Study Group. The event is of highly participatory nature. Everyone is expected to either contribute design examples for discussions, bring questions or actively engage in other people's examples. Familiarity of basic design principles is assumed.

Feel free to join waitlist. People on waitlist who have code design examples to share will be added to the RSVP right away.

We are meeting at Telmate(which is hiring!) on August 18th in Financial District. Below is the agenda.

6:30-7:00 Social Time/Refreshment

7:00-7:30 Design Case Study

Do you have a good design story you want to share with the group? Have you built something in Ruby beyond a typical Rails app? If you have one, please contact Ben, the event organizer of this event, so we can present it as a good design exercise for the group.

7:30-8:00 What Did You Learn Lately?
This part of the evening is where everybody speaks. It could be anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes(some call it lightening talks). Tell us what you have learned lately about Ruby, JS, software design or related technologies. Talk about it in a self-contained bite-size manner so we can all learn something new and concrete from each other. Simple code demo or diagram is welcome if it helps!

8:00-8:30 Group Code Review/Q&A
This is the most open-ended part of the evening. Bring any questions you have. Do you have questions on testing strategy, with object oriented design or is there just a bug that you can't seem to fix? Or you have some code that you want to optimize about. Bring it on and let's all brainstorm. If you mentioned it in comment section before the event, I will make sure that you get some good answers.

It went well with part of using rails serializers and part of ruby internals.
