Hello wine enthusiasts and thanks for your interest in our group!  This particular meetup was originally started by French wine importer and educator Raphael Knapp.  While Raphael is still a member here, he now has a different group called "Return to Terroir," that you may also wish to join.  I originally joined this group to mingle and collaborate with other people in the bay area who appreciate continued education about wine.  

I did not immediately adjust the summary for SF Wine Group, because I wanted to explore and experiment with what members desired since I have been the organizer in the past year.  What I found is a delightful group of fun loving bay area residents that put forth great energy in learning and attending wine events.  Our group is large enough that different organazations come to us and offer free tickets or discounts on events around the bay and wine country. I will continue to line us up with exceptional events like: The New Zealand Wine Show in SF (last year they gave us about 30 free tickets), Pinot Days and The Celebrity Wine and TV Party - which gave us a little television coverage. 

I personally explore wine both by living dangerously close to wine country and working for Wine.com in their corporate gift department.  I help companies or individuals when they want to order lots of wine from our vast product line of over 2000 labels from around the world. Our department specializes in helping people send to different locations all around the US, which can be quite tricky with leftover prohibition laws as well as state laws that make absolutely no sense to most people.  So while my typical client orders more than $1000 worth of wine going to several states, it is still fun for me to be able to share my promotion code to the members here on SFWG, so if you join here and wish to order anything, please contact me to find out about the code!
