We're bringing geometry out of the classroom and into the boozer. Guided by John Stillwell's The Four Pillars of Geometry, we'll be looking at the development from the classical geometry of ancient Greece through Renaissance perspective drawing to the non-Euclidean spaces underpinning relativity. We're a diverse group of artists and designers, mathematicians, philosophers and other interested parties. Previous mathematical knowledge is NOT required, and we'll be providing support for anyone who find the maths in Stillwell a bit offputting at first. We really believe this is an accessible topic and getting input from people from very different backgrounds should make it extremely enlightening. From January 2013 on each session will be based around a short extract of prior reading, and will focus on discussion, practical problem-solving and activities such as ruler-and-compass constructions. It's a lot more fun and interactive than the last time you had to do something involving triangles.
