Study: The experiences of 9/11 for Sikh families and their relationships
I am interested in conducting research with Sikh couples living in the New
England area (Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut)
as well as the New York City area. The purpose of this study would be to
gain an understanding of 9/11 and its impact on the Sikh family and their
relationships. To gather this information, I am looking to interview couples
(married or unmarried) who self identify as Sikh, who have lived together
for a minimum of two years, are over the age of 18, and are living in the
areas indicated above.
This study hopes to contribute to the dearth of academic literature on Sikh
families. Your contribution is valuable, as it would provide insight for
family therapists and other mental health professionals working with Sikh
families. Your participation is strictly voluntary. Confidentiality is of
utmost importance, and measures will be taken to protect your identity. As
an appreciation of your contribution, each couple will receive $50 at the
end of the interview.
The purpose of this letter is to alert you to the research project and
invite you to ask any questions you may have about this project. You may
contact Dr.Arora at [address removed]> or at (315)[masked] if you are
interested in participating, or learning more the study.
Interviews will take place in a place convenient to you.
