Understanding Live Video Streaming with Periscope and Meerkat

Periscope (owned by Twitter) and Meerkat are arguably the two most recent phenomenons in social media and video communication. Both apps have millions of users despite being less than one year old. Yet, jumping on it early can serve as a strategy to become a big fish in a small pond before it becomes saturated. For example, the biggest star on Periscope is Amanda Oleander. She has 500,000+ followers on Periscope and previoulsy took her 4 years to get 2000 fans on Instagram. I (Paul Rothbein) personally asked a friend of Amanda Oleander how she became so popular. His answer was "she created an account on day 2."

This will be an informal gathering to get started with Periscope/Meerkat and everyone is encouraged to first download both apps and see how it works in action.
