Devil Canyon - Chatsworth

Devil Canyon - Chatsworth

Details

We are going to join forces and go fo a hike with the Valencia Hiking Crew

Distance: 8 miles

Elevation Gain: 850 feet.

Devil Canyon with it's rock formations created 80 million years ago in a marine environment makes for a haunting yet beautiful hike. Live Oak and Willow trees fill the canyon and sandstone geology of the wildest kind is found. We'll start out on a combination of trails and fire roads with some nice views of the valley as well as Oat Mountain. After a brief break at the Michael D. Antonovich Regional Park at Joughin Ranch we'll take a side canyon trail to Devil Canyon and head back to the cars. The trail through the canyons crosses a small creek a few times, past some interesting flowers and many trees that offer plenty of shade before returning to our cars.

Day light savings starts on this day so adjust your clocks so that you will not be an hour late.

Directions: We'll meet on Canoga under the 118 Fwy. There's no Canoga exit so you'll need to exit at Topanga or De Soto, head South and take Chatsworth street over to Canoga.
