Hike Southern Ridges Trail

Southern Ridges has become a well liked hiking trail. Read all about it at the NParks website: www.nparks.gov.sg

Why do we like Southern Ridges so much? Let us count the ways:

1. Easy to get to

2. Most anyone can do it, although the first bit is uphill

3. The trail takes only about 1.5hrs

4. Lots of varied scenery

5. Ends at the lovely Hort (short for Horticulture) Park.

What to bring:

1. Friends and family members

2. Good shoes

3. Something in case of rain

4. A hat, etc. for protection from the sun

5. Lots of drinking water (there's also a water fountain along the way)

6. Some food, if you might get hungry.

Afterwards, if people are interested, we can walk or take a bus to Jalan Bukit Merah for lunch.

While I was waiting for another member to catch up for her breath, we 2 were left behind by this group - not a well organised hike , I would surely say !! Group activity means taking care of all members of the group, which unfortunately did not happen with this group. Disappointed ! :(

Sorry about that. I noticed that you were not around, Shiti, but I thought that you had gone back to be with your friend who had yet to arrive at the time we left. Normally, on a hike, there is a "sweeper", a person who is familiar with the hike and takes up the rear, but I couldn't find anyone to play that role; so, I tried to go slowly. But, I didn't go slowly enough. A lesson to be learned for next time. Cheers --george

Appreciate your acknowledgement of the issue. In future, it would help to share hand-phone numbers of the organiser and some other members on the day of the hike. Will help the group stay together, even in the absence of "sweepers". Cheers, Shiti.

Thanks to everyone who came. We were quite a convivial group. Thanks especially to Lokesh for bringing along his especially convivial son. To those who weren't able to join us this time, no worries, and hope to see you at the next SG Veg Meetup event.

Hi guys my apologies but I have to pull out. I sprained my ankle and it hurts to walk even short distances. Hope to catch you all next time!

Hi.. never been to that side before. Can kids join and do this as well? (6 years)

Hi Lokesh - Thanks for the question. The first ten minutes has a lot of climbing up steps. Some kids may need to be carried. It's up to you to decide.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
