How often do you criticize yourself when things don't go perfectly? How often do you beat yourself up in general? Learn to Subdue Your Raging Inner Critic

While a little self-criticism is a good thing (it can be a reality check that spurs you to be a better person), there is a vast difference between "I need to work out more," which sparks your motivation (for example) and "I'm a big fat jiggly blob."

Recognizing your self-talk is important because the words we feed ourselves turn into how we feel and what we believe. Without realizing it, we operate according to a reality consistent with our beliefs. If you believe "I’m not lovable" or "I’m an idiot", would you try to do something you believe you can’t do? And if you tried, do you think you would succeed with these beliefs fueling your engine? With this kind of self-talk, what are the possibilities that you could have a really healthy, nurturing, long-term romantic relationship?

Fortunately, there’s good news. Instead of being a slave to negative self-talk, we can tame this inner gremlin – we can develop an inner support network that fosters self-compassion and resilience. Self-compassion is a willingness to look at our mistakes and perceived shortcomings with kindness and understanding. When we are self-compassionate, we neither judge ourselves harshly nor feel the need to protectively defend ourselves. Self-compassion leads to higher levels of personal well-being, optimism and happiness – which makes for happier relationships. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from disappointments, the willingness to make the next try and to know that moving forward involves a lot of back and forth. Resilience leads to flexibility and peace of mind – which makes for healthier relationships.

Our Inner Critic has been a part of our lives since childhood so dispelling that voice, while not an easy task, is an essential one that requires a steady, long-term commitment. This teleseminar will help you understand:
