Sisters in Stitches Message Board › A sweet reminder...

Hello Lovely Stitchers!
I wanted to take a moment and remind y'all of what Sisters-in-Stitches is all about!
"We are a group of creative, friendly folks of all ages who love to chat, see what our neighbor is working on, share our skills and ideas and learn from one another. Hailing from all different skill sets from newbie to professional -we welcome you and whatever crafty stitchin' business you want to work on! We've got sewists, knitters, embroiderers, crocheters, menders, cross stitchers, felters, quilters .. . .(yeah, we could go on. . .. )"
I have been receiving numerous complaints lately about angsty political rants at meetups. I think it's FANTASTIC some of our members are paying attention to politics and getting fired up. I know I sure do! But a sewing/knitting group is not the appropriate platform for these topics.
There are actually several meetup groups which are politically based in our area. Join one! I also recommend getting involved in our community -support your causes, but please exercise those rights appropriately.
Our members want to enjoy themselves at our meetups, not be made to feel uncomfortable. I will remind you that I pay to run this group out of my own pocket and this is a hobby for me - as it is for all of you! This happens to be a stitchin' group! I love the fun discussions we've had over the years in SIS meetups! There are gobzillions of other topics to choose from. (I am happy to recommend a few if you are at a loss.)
If I hear any more politcal (or for that matter, ANY inappropriate hot-button topics or hate-based topics) at another one of my meetups, I will pull you aside and we can have a private discussion. After that, you're out of the group. (Not sure if it's an inappropriate topic? Well then, it probably is.) Let's keep this fun and light-hearted! (As it usually is!) Leave any negativity elsewhere and be that chipper, positive person we know you really are!
Thanks for understanding, ladies!
