Join the Resistance to the Keystone XL Pipeline

The KXL pipeline is a looming environmental disaster, but with your help, we can turn it into just another corporate pipe dream.

RSVP Link:

The day opens with a workshop on Grand Strategy & Creative Tactics presented by Bill Moyer of the Backbone Campaign. The workshop is an interactive presentation on the strategic use of Artful Activism to build movement power to transform society.

In the afternoon we will plan a peaceful, dignified sit-in at the US Federal Courthouse in Tacoma, in order to send the message to President Obama and his administration that they must reject the Keystone XL pipeline.

We will prepare a team of people who are willing to risk arrest, and a support team who will NOT risk arrest. In particular, we must fill the critical roles of jail support and police liaison, because without them we cannot hold a successful civil disobedience action.

Participation in the training is absolutely essential to making this action a success. Please RSVP as soon as possible.

Hi Brian and Patty, old WPC stalwarts,
I initially declined because of the fuel and cost factors for me coming from Vashon. However, seeing as my friend and fellow Vashonite, Bill Moyers is going to be there, maybe I could hitch a ride with him.

I don't remember any details about the Keystone XL Pipeline. Could you please remind us why this pipeline is a worse looming environmental problem than other pipelines, like that big one in Alaska? Thanks!

Thank you for the information. From what I read, you oppose the pipeline because you don't want the bitumen to be extracted at all. It's not the pipeline you oppose, but the release of the carbon that will result from burning these fossil fuels, plus the environmental harm caused by the extraction itself. You should probably be honest about this during your Resistance.
