Movie Night: The Ledge

I forgot to add that this is a limited run, only in LA and NY.  This screening is a test to see if it will get picked up for a larger distribution in the US.  The more that attend these screenings, the more attention it will get from distributors.

So let's make a big showing for this film!!!

Matthew Chapman, (great grandson of Charles Darwin!)  is the writer & director of this independent film 'The Ledge' (starring Liv Tyler and Terrence Howard), in which a battle of philosophies between a fundamentalist Christian and an atheist escalates into a lethal battle of wills.

But wait, there's more!:

We're planning on meeting up at the theater for the 7pm showing, and then doing "Denny's and discussion" afterward to get peoples reactions.

Great movie, interesting, diverse group of people, nice discount and fun night altogether! Thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen :)

The religious discussions were rather lame. The plot predictable with a few holes, but as a movie lover, I'm glad I went.

Had a good time. I'm glad I saw the film, and it had a very interesting concept, but I don't think it's something I'd recommend to a friend who's trying to sort out the belief vs. non-belief debate. Enjoyed the dinner/conversation afterward as well!

I had seen the movie twice already so I ended up skipping the screening itself and just joining up with the Greater LA Skeptics afterwards for dessert/discussion. This meant a drive across town at the end of the evening and I almost wimped out. I am so glad I resisted the temptation. A really nice gathering with some interesting people. Spirited discussion, including critiques of the movie (because what else would skeptics do?). This was my 2nd meetup event and I realize I have a lot more in common with these folks than I do with most of the people in my day to day life.

The movie was good ... I had SOME minor issues with it, but good over-all ...

The theater is in a mall, on the second floor. I would imagine we will meet outside the box office at some point. Be there before 6:45pm to get the group discount.

I'm new to this meetup group and I was wondering if we are all meeting up in a certain area before the movie, or just at Denny's afterwards?

There is a group price of $6 available for groups of 20 or more. Kevin Gallagher at the Sunset 5 has been alerted that there are three groups coming (this one, the Secular Student Alliance at Cal Lutheran, and AAHS, a non-theist Unitarian group) all planning to attend. Mention any one of those three names and arrive by 6:45 for the discount price.

I just purchased my ticket in advance, just in case. It costs $1 more to do so.
