Sourland Mountains Hike

Details
Saturday, September 18
Hike the Mighty Sourland Mountains of Hillsborough!
The Sourland Mountain Preserve is a Somerset County park, not far from the Carrier
Clinic. We’ll be hiking this area on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 11:30 a.m. No rain date.
The longest hike available is about 4 miles and rated
moderate since it includes a steep switchback.
Shorter, easier hikes are also available. On a clear
day you can see the taller buildings in New York City.
Bring sun screen, water, snacks, suitable footwear, a
hat and sunglasses. Note that this area is undeveloped
beyond a parking lot and marked trails, and has
no facilities other than a portable restroom.
No sign-ups; just show up. To get to the Preserve
from the Princeton area, take County Rd 518 West to
County Rd 601 North (Great Road). At mile marker 6, you’ll see a baseball field; take next
left onto East Mountain Rd. (adjacent to Carrier Clinic). The Preserve will be on the left,
about 1.2 miles from 601. We’ll meet in the parking lot. (For customized driving directions
online, see “GETTING THERE” on Page 6; keyword: sourland.)
