Animals | Engineer & Recruiter Mixer

Come enjoy some appetizers, wine/beer, and beverages along with some great conversation and networking with images from Pink Floyd's Animals album in the background at the San Francisco Art Exchange.

Network with Recruiters and other Engineers with the counterculture backdrop San Francisco is famous for.

About Pink Floyd Animals

Animals is Pink Floyd's 10th Studio Album, released in 1977, loosely based on George Orwell's political fable Animal Farm, its lyrics described various classes in society as different kinds of animals; the combative dogs, despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning herd" of sheep.

The famous album cover is of the Battersea Power Station in Battersea, UK in southwest London.  The inflated pig balloon over the power station is now an iconic image representing a critique of capitalism.   Jim Hartley and Theron Kabrich of the SFAE staff will be on-hand to chat with you about this exhibit

The seeds of Vidality were sown early in 2011 in a brainstorming session by a group of Stanford University engineering students pondering the future direction of video technology. The discussion transitioned from the actual engineering elements of video to social philosophy and, in particular, human interaction with the technology. Paul Campbell held fast to the idea that, regardless of the success experienced by the current wave of social media channels, the survivors to the next level will be those who integrate face-to-face interaction to satisfy the human needs of savvy users. At the same time, the evolution of the technology needed to be simple and mimic traditional human interaction to overcome "technophobe" hesitation. As proof, Paul cited the popularity of Skype and YouTube, as well as the integration of video into social networks such as Facebook and others.

Much of the popular iconography with which we are all familiar, were conceived and produced by fine professionals and true legends in their craft. We are honored to present, online as well as in our downtown San Francisco gallery, among the most historically significant popular imagery by some of the most prominent artists and photographers who produced them.

Sounds like an interesting evening with several opportunities for the sort of innovative thinking good for producing amazing insights - such as when I innovated by producing consistent logging formats while implementing the first radiology store in the cloud that scaled to support MD Anderson's volume of clinical images with FDA V&V GRC.
