Re: [softwaredev-113] Looking for presentations for UW Hub club

I would add something as well:

This is a great opportunity to step up your presentation game, whether it's to practice for tech talks at work or to get ready to present something in a conference!

The UW Hub group is looking for presentations by (and possibly more QA-oriented sessions with) local software-oriented tech companies/people. These would be geared toward undergrads who are interested in computer software but are still early in their education. This will be a great way for us to share our ideas and experience and to help excite the younger people who are up and coming in the industry.

My proposal to HUB was to poll our members for people interested in doing a presentation (on a topic of your choice) in the area of software development. Our group covers a pretty broad area so we'll pick and choose topics along a theme for each of possibly several combined meetups (not on our usual night) with the HUB group.

For instance we may get several web-technology related topics together for one presentation, and then possibly several mobile-development-related topics for another. As a mobile and "desktop" software guy I would be interested in talking about the challenges of porting a desktop product to a mobile device, and the different UI aspects of targeting, say, the iPhone and iPad. Or even a quick talk about the wonders of C++ templates and image processing.

So if you are willing to give a talk/presentation on something of interest to you, let me know and I'll put together a list of possible meetup topics for HUB.

We'll likely choose the 3rd or 4th Wednesday of each month, or every other month, to have these meetings. They will probably be in the CS building on campus in a reserved room. This could be a good chance to inspire CS students and bring the local tech community closer together.
