Night Photography Workshop

Taking photos during the day is fun, but some dramatic photos can be made right after the sun has gone down and into the night. Join professional photographer Loren Fisher as we explore photography in the dark – or what you thought was dark.

You’ll be surprised to learn how much light is in the sky well after sunset and Loren will show you how to make the sky look great, even if it is cloudy, and how the light on buildings looks different as darkness settles in.

We will start with a 30-minute “classroom” session and then head out and you’ll make pictures in fun Somerville locations. You’ll learn the tricks to getting great photos right after sunset and then during the “blue hour” and then once the sky is completely dark.

savannah_walkwayYou will shoot street scenes in town, neon lights, reflections and get cool streaks of car lights. We will do some light painting, where we “paint” light on a building with a small flashlight as you photograph the building using a very long exposure. We will be using mostly available light and not using flash.

I appreciate the light of night in a new and exciting way. When you have fun and realize how much you learned until you sit down and reflect is the best kind of learning. Thank you to everyone; especially Loren!!!

Excellent, a brief but complete summary of many night photo techniques. Loren's slide presentation and descriptions were perfect examples of what we were going to be shooting.

Excellent meetup, learned a lot about night shots. Excellent way to see lights in many different ways. Now I know that night time can be great for photography, not just bright sunny days.

I did get the email but I cannot join you on Friday, due to my 3 year old granddaughter having surgery this week, so I am needed at home. It looks like a great meetup and I am sorry to miss it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
