I just had a thought - have you considered sending your emails in Spanish? Then you could put the English version at the bottom, which I think would be helpful to people. I have picked up most of my vocabulary by ear and unless someone studies formally and extensively they wouldn't know some words for everyday communication. I also think it could be good practice for members, especially if they start answering each other. I often have to use Google translate, but I email more than I talk so I know it would help me.

Like I said, just a thought.

Hello everyone--
One of our members, José Taj, has kindly asked me to forward some information to you all regarding the New Orleans Carnaval Latino that will take place September 14-16.  You can check out the details at the website:
The website does not seem to offer specifics on band performance times or ticket prices, but José provided the following:
Friday 14 = Mariachi and other groups = cover $25
Saturday 15 = Merengue ( Dominican Republic group ) + marimba = cover $15
Sunday 16 = Local groups = Cover $15
There is a parade on the 14th that starts on Elysian Fields and goes through the French Quarter, but everything else takes place at the east bank Mardi Gras World, located near the convention center.  A different website said that the activities begin at 2pm each day.
I may not be able to attend due to some classes I am taking, but if I can find more details, I will try to schedule a Spanish Meetup on one of those days.
José also reminds you all about his study abroad Spanish program in Guatemala. You will find complete details online at
Hasta luego--
