New Meeting: Under the Same Moon: Cedar Lee Theater / Stone Oven Cafe

Sent on: Wednesday, April 16, 2008 12:03 AM
Announcing a new meeting for The Summit County Spanish Language Meetup Group!

What: Under the Same Moon: Cedar Lee Theater / Stone Oven Cafe

When: Friday, April 18, 6:00 PM

Meeting fee: USD8.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: This is an event sponsored by the Cleveland Independent Moviegoers Meetup. Let's join their English-speaking group to see this Spanish-language film. If you belong to both groups please RSVP on one website only.

Why: I saw it at the film festival, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (I will join everyone at the restaurant before and at the tavern afterwards.)

Meeting Description: This was an audience favorite at this year's film festival. It is a Mexican story about immigration and finding one's self and family.

6:00 EATS: The Stone Oven is a self-service deli with great food. Look for us sitting at the high tables in the middle of the room. Cash is highly recommended. It is a bit over a five minute walk to the theater.

7:00 MOVIE: Meet at the movie entrance door IN THE CEDAR-LEE THEATER HALLWAY 5 minutes ahead of time or look for the group inside the theater or meet us afterwards near the marquis.

AFTER MOVIE DISCUSSION: We will head to the Tavern after the movie.

DESCRIPTION: Rosario (Kate del Castillo) is an illegal immigrant who had to leave her son Carlitos (Adrian Alonso) behind in Mexico to find work in the U.S. After working dutifully for several years and sending money back home for Carlitos, Rosario goes on a dangerous journey to be reunited with her son. Plus, unbeknownst to her, little Carlitos also takes off to find his mother.

REVIEW: "You may be pleasantly surprised by how affected you are by the small kindnesses the boy finds... And you may be absolutely shocked at how moved you are when finally, gratefully, Carlitos' journey comes to a joyful end."
