Intro to Spark's Standard Libraries at Stanford Spark Class

This is somewhat late-notice, but for folks in the South Bay interested in Spark's standard libraries, there will be a day of talks on them open to the public as part of the Stanford ICME Spark Class on Friday, August 15th.

The day will will cover MLlib, GraphX, and Spark Streaming, with talks by the following:

• Introduction to MLlib: Spark's Machine Learning library (Reza Zadeh): 10 AM

• Automating the Machine Learning Pipeline (Ameet Talwalkar): 10:45 AM

• Graph Processing with the GraphX library (Ankur Dave): 1 PM

• Spark Streaming (Tathagata Das): 1:45 PM

This is a good chance to learn about these libraries and talk to the developers if you haven't had a chance to meet them in person. Find us at the Clark Center Auditorium on the Stanford campus.

Jotted down notes from this morning's talks here - may be useful for those following the slides.

May need to skip this to work on a Kaggle; any chance this could be recorded and links to slides and video posted?

THANKS! I'm just trying out the intro Kaggle; just a newbie. Would be cool if I could do this with Spark; but likely later in Sept! Would be fun to meetup if you'd like to try a Kaggle with me on Spark!

I'm grateful you are offering these session and want to thank you for them. It appears the classes are continuation of "day-1" and "day-2". Is that correct? What about a newbie that jump-starts on day-3? Will they be OK?

The third day is separate from the first two. As long as you know about RDDs, day 3 should be fine. If not, you can go through the slides to catch up: stanford.edu/~rezab/sparkclass/

Suggestions for parking? Always a challenge in this neighborhood. I sometimes see "parking reserved" signs in the parking garage at Roth and Campus for events…did the group reserve any slots? If no, I will likely park at the Shopping Ctr.
