Details

Hey All, This time around we'll be using the Raspberry Pi to serve up a web page that we can use to turn a table lamp on and off from a smart phone, laptop, some other browser (or for that matter, any device that can make an http request to a URL).

We'll use the Python programming language and Flask (a small framework for developing and publishing web applications) to write and serve a web page that will tell us if the light is on or off as well aas have a button we can use as a virtual light switch for our lamp (or coffee maker, or stereo or anything else we might want to control remotely with a simple on/off switch).

We'll be using the same library (RPi.GPIO) as the last two sessions to control our simple circut and following a tutorial written up in a blog post by Matt Richardson on his web site as an excerpt from his book Getting Started with Raspberry Pi.

I've given you enough key words to plug into your favorite search engine so you can do this in the comfort of your mom's basement, but wouldn't it just be easier and more fun to Make it Social at Splat Space?
