Build a Web app in 2 hours: free Rails intro course

Rails is the framework behind such Web sites as Twitter, Urban Dictionary, Basecamp, A List Apart, Pitchfork, and Shopify. This short course will leave you with the knowledge and skills to build your own Web app using Rails.

We provide a curriculum and one-on-one coaches to make sure you move at the pace best for you. We are open to everyone ranging from people who have never gone beyond opening Facebook to Web experts interested in Rails, and we even welcome those with Rails experience looking to level-up their knowledge.

We are running a separate installfest beforehand, where you can make sure your laptop is ready to rock a Rails app. Highly recommended. You can sign up for the installfest here.

Can't make it? Don't panic! We will see you next quarter (and you're always welcome to other Stockholm Ruby events). Food and space sponsored by thoughtbot.

Schedule

6.30 pm: Setup
7 pm: Introductory talk
7.10 pm: Start working
8.30 pm: 15 minute break
10 pm: The event ends

Really great intro tutorial- well done. Good examples of the speed of getting a Rails app up & running, and enough explanation at each step that the mechanics weren't hidden behind the "magic" of using the command line to generate an app.

Here is a new resource for learning ruby/rails that I came across: http://patmaddox.com/rubysteps/. Could be worth checking out whether you are newbie or not so new.
