*** PRESENTATION 1 ***

Title: Managing Hadoop Workflows in the Enterprise

Presenters: Amit Cohen, Joe Goldberg

Abstract:

No matter how real-time or streaming you think your Hadoop applications are or will be, batch workflows are as important in the Big Data landscape as they have been in “traditional” IT where industry analysts say batch accounts for almost 70% of all business processing.

Especially now, as Hadoop is going “mainstream” and is destined to make a big impact on IT and the Data Center, companies are looking for solutions that will help them develop and deploy their batch workflows faster, provide support for “traditional” applications and technologies like file transfer, ETL tools and even mainframes and help them deliver Big Data “services” that will be easy to manage for IT and easy to consume for business users.

Amit and Joe will discuss how a Hadoop-aware workload automation solution can accelerate creation of Big Data applications, simplify testing and deployment of such applications, enable organizations to better operate those applications to deliver superior service quality and provide organizations the flexibility to respond more rapidly to new Big Data demands.

Title: Jumpstart your Big Data Projects!

Presenter: Mathieu Lagrange

Abstract:

Data Scientists are finding that they spend up to 80% of their time to just access their data and only 20% for using data-science methods to get the value out of their data. In an study (IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology), a couple of data scientists expressed their frustration in preparing data for analysis: “I spend more than half my time integrating, cleansing, and transforming data without doing any actual analysis. Most of the time I’m lucky if I get to do any ‘analysis’ at all.”, and another data scientist explains that “most of the time once you transform the data … the insights can be scarily obvious.”

Learn how you can turn this relationship around and free up time to ask more and better questions. Free access to software for non-commercial use!

Mathieu Lagrange's bio:

Mathieu Lagrange holds 15 years of experience in the IT software industry, filling EMEA Informatica Big Data Product Specialist, presales and post sales engineer. Prior to Informatica, Mathieu was consultant at Accenture, in Telco Industry.
