We have set up this hands on Lab for developers who are interested in learning how to use the Crittercism developer tools in their IPhone applications.

Here is how the tools can help you:

For Small developers:

  1. Generate more sales, make more money.
Better ratings = more sales. More importantly, bad ratings = less sales. Keep potential bad ratings out of app store (and convert to positive ratings) by giving users an easy and transparent way to talk to devs.

  2. Communication
Let devs talk back to their users. (We have many examples: devs buying their own app to respond to bad ratings in the app store, Update Release Notes that tell users to use their forum because they can't respond to reviews in the app store)

Small & large devs:

  1. Crash reports -

Notify devs that their app crashes and give them diagnostic information.
Apple provides crash reports but only when you have a certain number of crashes (we've never gotten any with an app that has had over 1000 downloads). Crashes are the #1 cause of bad reviews in the app store and #1 reason to not download an app. 2 benefits. 1)Letting devs know that their app crashes so they can immediately pull app from store before getting bad reviews. 2) give devs diagnostic data so that they can reproduce and fix the bug.

  1. User retention/loyalty (subscription or in game revenue)
Ever since Apple lifted the restriction that apps with in-app purchases cannot be free, we've seen a growth in the number of games that follow the "farmville" revenue model. These games are target customers because their revenue depends so much on providing on-going support.
