Native American sweat lodge ceremonies are a part of medicine healing ways that have been passed down for many generations. Their purpose is to make prayers as a community for the sick, the elderly and the unfortunate. The lodge represents Grandmother Earth's womb from whence we all come. When we pray in lodge, we honor Grandfather Sky, Grandmother Earth, and the spirits, both animal and elemental, that live in that place. So - for a time, we can become centered, and quiet, and occupy the moment. We will discus Native American sweat lodge traditions that adhere closely to the spirit and intentions of the living tribal communities that preserve them. We will talk about health and contraindications, the meaning of sweat lodge and how you can do your own. We will also discuss forming a community sweat lodge where we can sweat and pray together. No Sedona stuff here. Remember - Sweat for Pay? - Run the other way!
