New Moon Sweat Lodge

Wopila, Tunkashila! When we have given our tears to Grandmother Earth over the year that has passed, for our friends, and our family who have gone, we build a fire on the first new moon of the new year, and come to lodge to pray for the living. A time of renewal, of hope and promise is come. We will start the sacred fire at 2 PM. Sweat will begin around 5:30. The ceremony includes a meal together after the sweat and will conclude around 10 PM. Please arrive as early as possible so we can discuss the ceremony and make prayer ties. From Carrboro drive 4 miles west of Carrboro Plaza on Hwy 54 past White Cross Auto Sales on the left and and look for the red flag on a pine tree on the right. Turn into the gate at 2123 and park along the drive. The ceremonial ground is in the back
