September meetup!

Hi everyone,

I think it's time for another Node.ninjas!

With CampJS a few weeks behind us, it would be great if someone who went could give a little overview. One of the many things I took away from these awesome 3 days is how versatile JavaScript and Node are. We had dozens of JS demos covering mobile apps, hardware-integration, cool graphics, blog engines and much more. With that in mind we'll be looking for lots of cool demos for the October meetup, so get ready now and email Andrew or myself if you want to present!

For September, we have 3 great speakers lined-up:

- Nik Butenko, who you've definitely met at the meetup before. Nik will talk about reusing objects & entities between the client and server code, with a little help from a new library he called Gleam!

- Joshua M. Clulow, a developer from Newcastle who now works for Joyent in San Francisco. Joshua is back in town for a few days, and will tell us all about the latest developments from the people who brought you Node!

- Richard Kennard is the author of Metawidget, a UI generation library. He'll be presenting about how he recently ported Metawidget to Node / NPM to allow server-side, JavaScript-based UI generation.

See you on Thursday the 19th!

Have a quick look at the slides (list by left/right, menu at the bottom - only for key slides, total amount of slides is 33). If you find it interesting - just give me a message in skype/mail, I will be glad to share more tech details with you. Cheers.

    Hi folks,

Don't forget to update your rsvp if you can't make it, so someone else can take your place.

I've toyed with Node.js in a few sample apps I built while interviewing, now looking at doing a project with node on Arduino and RaspberryPi

    Hi everyone!

Change of plans: we're saving the Node demos for the October meetup... and we already have one other exciting presentation lined up for then.

Why the change? Well Joshua M. Clulow will be in Sydney on the 19th, and he offered to speak about the latest developments at Joyent! Yes, Joyent as in :) Let's welcome Joshua back to Australia!

So that's a total of 3 speakers for the September meetup, and as usual many drinks and pizzas. See you all there, and don't forget to update your RSVP closer to the date!

Richard Kennard will also be speaking at the next meetup! Richard is the author of Metawidget, a UI generation library now available on NPM.

We're also still looking for mini-demos during the break. If you have any fun side project running on Node, come show us what it does. We only have a few "yes" for now and we're hoping for lots of varied content! It can be anything from 2/3 slides to a live demo to a flying quadcopter. Actually yes, we definitely need quadcopters.
